The Angels Junior High have had a great start to their season taking first place in a pre-season tournament at Angels Arena August 26-27. In pool play, the Angels beat Abilene 25-22, and 26-24 while Northfield beat the Angels 25-21, 13-25 and 15-6. In bracket play, the Angels beat Derby Invasion 25-13, and 25-14. In the semi-finals the Angels again beat Derby 25-20 and 25-13. In the finals the Angels beat Abilene to win the championship!

Traveling to El Dorado September 6 to play Victory Christian School, the Angels junior high A and B teams both came home victorious. The B team won 25-22, 25-12 and 25-20. The A team won 25-23, 20-25, 25-20, and 25-19.

The Wichita Angels junior high volleyball team came out ahead in a triangular with Derby Invasion and Victory Christian. In close games, the Angels beat Victory Christian 27-25, and 25-22. Derby Invasion took it to 3 games but the Angels were able to pull out a win, 25-23, 21-25 and 15-9. With nailbiter games, all players contributed to the Angel's success. "Everyone contributed what they needed to in order to get the job done," said Coach Cheryl Ammons.

September 8th, 2005
The Wichita Angels High School Volleyball team won a match against the Word of Life High School JV team. The Angels won the first game 25-19, lost the second game 20-25, and took the last game at 15-12. Some outstanding players of the game were as follows:

Setter Mackenzie Jackson: Setting 88%, also stuffing one attack, and serving 90%

Hitter Sarah Duncan: One kill and one ace

Hitter Laura Crandall: Two Aces

Hitter Rachel Harms: 83% hitting average

Hitter Chelsea Crandall: Served 100%

Hitter Rebekah Harms: 4/4 and excellent coverage.

The Angels junior high girls volleyball team had a challenging week, beginning
Monday Sept 19 with matches against the Warriors. The B team pulled out a win, taking it to 3 games; 15-25, 25-22, and 15-8. After playing one of their best games but losing 24-26, the Angels junior high A team weren't able to close the gap. They were defeated 17-25 and 20-25.

Thursday, Sept. 22 the Angels junior high had another couple tough matches against CCA. The B team lost 15-25, 25-18, 6-15 and the A team lost 17-25, 18-25.

The Angels Finished this week taking 2nd Place at the Angels Classic Tournament Sept. 23-24, behind Bethel Life. They were also given the honor of receiving the Christian Character Award, chosen by other teams in the tournament.

The Angels high school girls also had a busy week with matches against the Wichita Warriors, Newton Christian, and Sunrise. The Angels girls entered the tournament a much improved team, and took 4th place overall with a win over Northfield. The Angels HS girls also received the Christian Character Award, chosen by the other teams in the tournament.

September 27 the junior high Angels volleyball team defeated Derby Invasion at Colonial Heights 25-13 and 25-22. September 30 they traveled to Abilene and were defeated by Abilene 25-16, 12-25 and 11-15. The Angels junior high B team lost a close one to WACA, October 6. Scores were 25-19, 19-25, and 14-16. The Junior High A team were also defeated by WACA 22-25 and 13-25.

October 7 the Angels junior high volleyball team took 2nd place at Eldorado in Victory Christian's first tournament. They were able to defeat all teams except for CCA. Chelsea Crandall made the all tournament team. Scores were as follows: Angels vs. CCA A team, 12-25 and 17-25; Angels vs. Derby Invasion, 25-20 and 26-24; Angels vs. Victory Christion, 25-20 and 25-15; Angels vs. CCA B team, 25-22 and 25-16; Angels vs. CCA A team, 15-25 and 13-25.

Angels in OK City on March 13, 2007

Girls - played a Houston team and got beat pretty bad. I don't know the final score but half was something like
46-2.

Boys 16 - played ok and won or tied three of four quarters. We got beat in the third quarter 19-9 which ultimately
won the game for the other team.

Boys 14 - played well and stayed with the team the first three quarters.

The other team shot the lights out in the 4th
quarter and beat us by 15-20.

Below is an update on how the Angels teams did Wednesday. Way to go Angels!

U12 Boys - They were down 1-4 after the first quarter. We missed some shots we should have made. The boys played the next three quarters about as good as they ever have and blew the other team off of the court.

U14 Boys - The boys were up after the first quarter 22-9. In the second quarter the other team scored 23 points
and we did not so we were behind at half. We came back and played well and won the game.

U14 Girls - They were behind - came back - lost in overtime.

U16 Boys - The game was close. Our boys played well and pulled it out in the 4th quarter.

The 3rd Annual Angels Academy Thanksgiving Classic had some great preseason play; but even better were the attitudes and character displayed by many of the athletes and coaches. The tournament was marred when 5 Calvary Christian boys drove to Subway and were involved in a car wreck that caused various injuries to the boys, requiring 3 of them to go the hospital. All were released from the hospital over the weekend, and are healing. We praise God for His hand of protection amidst that wreck.
