Emily holds graduate degrees and a Ph.D in Child Development and Education from Iowa State University. Emily is close to having her MS in Linguistics. She currently runs her own papercraft business. She has taught children and adults for over 20 years in addition to participating in numerous art shows. She loves seeing others spark their creativity with various art mediums. In her classes this year, she will focus on elements of art, famous artists from around the world across multiple time periods, while encouraging individual creativity and artful expression.

CHORAL MUSIC TEACHER

Monica holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from WSU and enjoyed teaching music for over ten years in public schools in Wichita, New York, and Wisconsin. She has also taught vocal and drama classes with Christian Youth Theater, served as children's choir director at her church, and has taught private piano lessons for many years. Monica loves working with all types of learners to build vocal confidence and foster a greater appreciation and enjoyment of music!

Choral Music Class (Age 12-18): Students will learn proper vocal technique (including pitch, tone-quality, resonance and breath control) as well as build other music skills such as rhythm and pitch reading, basic music theory, and singing in two-part harmony.

*Special note: adolescent males with changing voices can learn how to enjoy singing through this stage in life, so you are encouraged to come join us!

*Choral Music- Fall Semester ends with an informal mini-performance for parents during class time.....Spring Semester ends with a formal evening concert

Elementary Music (Age 5-7/Age 8-11): This fun and engaging class will explore the musical concepts of pitch, rhythm, tone color, dynamics, meter, tempo, form, and texture. Students will learn by listening and analyzing, moving, playing instruments, and singing. Our musical repertoire will be comprised of folk songs, hymns, and other pieces written specifically for children. Various composer studies will also be included along the way. Our goal is to build students' God-given music skills as well as foster joy and appreciation for music that will last a lifetime.

10-10:50 am for Ages 8-11;

11-11:50 am for Ages 5-7.
